How to Initiate a process for Chinese Government Scholarship

Every year, the Chinese Government attracts students across the globe through Chinese Government Scholarships for Master's and Ph.D. programs offered in all disciplines. In this blog, I will tell you how to apply or how to make your chances brighter for selection. So before going to start, let me tell you that avoid following agents, there is no need for agents, you can achieve it better by yourself.

Step 1: You need to decide whether you want to avail of a scholarship or want it in high ranked University or institution? In any case, you are suggested to do a google search and pick a list of Chinese Universities, high-rank universities. To can also find that list here Chinese Universities Ranking 2023

Step 2: According to your answer in step 1, if you are interested in a scholarship then I would suggest you select a University that falls below Rank # 50, which will maximize your chances of selection as most of the traffic is toward high-rank Universities. Now a question may come to your mind how it will increase my chances? Remember, CSC provides a certain number of scholarship seats every year to each University and high-ranked Universities are receiving a higher number of applications, therefore, in spite you have an acceptance letter, that does not matter, you can be rejected. 

Step 3: By now I assume you have made your choice, either to target the top 50 or below. Now open the Chinese Scholarship Council website, and click on Subject Wishe University List Under CSC. Subject Wise University List of CSC. Check the university you are interested in from the search box on top.

Step 4: Now open that University and search your field or department or a related department. Change the language to English if the website is in Chinese, almost all the Chinese Universities' websites are providing that open with the word "EN", so click it.

Step 5: Now go to the department link and search for the faculty tab or related keywords. Once you have the list of all the professors. Here do not jump quickly, please read their areas of research expertise. If that matches you, then make a list of at least 10 professors with their research work and University name and note them in a notebook.

Step 6: Next, the one you are most interested pick him and at least one of his recent papers so that you get a fair idea of his/her research interests. Also, note some information about those papers you read with yourself.

Step 7: Now, you are almost set. Draft a beautiful letter of not more than two paragraphs. In the first few lines introduce yourself then mention his area of interest and his paper (the one you read), and write why you are interested in such kinds of research work. In other words, write about your dedication and interest regarding that research topic. In the last few sentences, ask the professor if you want to join his team and if s/he likes, please interview me. 

Step 8: The most important step, Please to not send emails from Gmail, I would suggest email ids of Microsoft. The only reason is that Google is not freely working in China and therefore there is a higher possibility that the professor may not receive your email if you send an email using your Gmail ID. Finally, do not forget to attach your good CV with this Email.
